Trader Joes Rosemary

The regular organic, fragrant and tasty Rosemary that Trader Joes sells.

Bought from Trader Joe's today and planted between the fence and the edge of the road where it's going to get lots of sunshine and has lots of room to grow and expand. The last rosemary bush we had like this did incredibly well and took over a large portion of the vegetable garden and kept on having to be cut back. The new location that this one occupies provides it with ample room for expansion and will be an attractive curbside plant as well.

A shot of the inverted tomato trellis and wire cage that I've put around this plant to provide it with some protection.

Now with Summer on the way this should turn into a massive bush.

Removed the tomato cage from here today as it seems big enough now to protect itself. I'm surprised that this bush hasn't grown out-of-control big like the one in the vegetable patch did. You can see some spittlebug on the bush.

Removed the wire protection from the outside as a lot of the plant was growing through it and it seems big enough to withstand rabbits. Also trimmed about a quarter of it for a meal for today and to get the wire protection off it.

I've never seen this bush flower before. Not sure if it'll drop seeds that will sprout or if these flowers are perhaps edible?

I just looked back at the original image of how tiny this was when it was planted 6 years ago and how massive it is now. On average, we probably take sprigs from this bush twice a month to flavor the food that we're making.

I love how out-of-control-big this bush has become. It started off about the size of a coffee cup.

Trimmed this away from the road and filled my 4-cubic-foot gorilla cart with the cuttings from it and had to pack it down to fit it all in. I'm going to let them dry out and then use them on a BBQ to see if I can add some rosemary smoke flavor to what I'm cooking.
